Support through loss

Grief & bereavement counselling in Farnborough & online

Grief doesn't follow a schedule, and it rarely looks the way we expect it to. Some days feel almost normal; others arrive like a wave out of nowhere. There may be sadness, but also anger, guilt, numbness, relief, or a strange mix of all of them — and few places where it feels safe to say any of that honestly.

I offer bereavement counselling in Farnborough and online: a gentle, unhurried space to talk about the person or thing you've lost, and what life looks like now.

Grief takes many forms

Bereavement counselling isn't only for the recent loss of a loved one. People also come to me carrying:

  • A death that happened years ago but still feels unresolved
  • Anticipatory grief, when someone close is seriously ill
  • The loss of a relationship, through separation or estrangement
  • Losing a pet who was part of the family
  • The end of a role or identity — retirement, children leaving home, a health change
  • Grief that others around you seem to think you should be "over" by now

There's no right way to grieve, and no deadline. However your loss looks, it's welcome here.

How counselling helps with grief

Grief can be isolating. Friends and family mean well, but they're often grieving too, or unsure what to say — and it's common to start protecting them by saying "I'm fine". Counselling gives you one hour a week where you don't have to be fine.

My role isn't to move you on or find silver linings. It's to listen, help you put the unsayable into words, and sit with whatever comes up — sadness, anger, guilt, even laughter at a memory. Over time, most people find the loss doesn't disappear, but it becomes something they can carry. We'll always go at your pace, and there's never pressure to talk about more than you're ready to.

Practical details

Sessions last one hour and cost £50, in person in Farnborough — within easy reach of Aldershot, Fleet, Frimley and Camberley — or online across the UK. Evening and Saturday morning appointments are available.

If you're unsure whether counselling is right for you just now, a free 30 minute introduction is a gentle way to find out. There's no obligation to continue.

I also offer anxiety counselling and counselling for teenagers.
